Reaching Out is a capacity building project in Advice & Guidance within the Voluntary and Community Sector in 6 west London boroughs - Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon & Hounslow.

We have funding from the London Development Agency, LDA, to provide people who work or volunteer for a voluntary or community organisation with the opportunity to gain their first Level 2, or 3 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Advice & Guidance.

In order to gain a place on this project, prospective candidates will need to meet one of the following criteria:

  • You do not already have your first level 2 qualification (equivalent to 4 to 5 GCSEs at A to C grades) but would like to gain one, or
  • You do not already have your first level 3 qualification (equivalent to 2-3 A level passes or equivalent e.g. BTEC National Diploma) but would like to gain one

The Reaching Out Project aims to strengthen current Information, Advice & Guidance Provision (IAG) in west London by upskilling existing community based IAG Advisers and training new ones who will specialise in working with our target group of unemployed people, especially unemployed women, between the ages of 16 and 65, who are Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic (BAME), lone parents, disabled or those living with an economically inactive partner.

Reaching Out will provide community based IAG services to 600 beneficiaries and support up to 50 Trainee Advisers to gain an NVQ qualification in Advice & Guidance at either Level 2, or 3.

The Reaching Out project started on the 1st December 2007 and ran until 30th June 2009.
